하트 랜드라는 대규모 장난감 회사의 회장인 길 마즈는 실제 사람처럼 행동하는 장난감을 만들어내는데, 군인 코만도 엘레트와 적군인 괴물 집단 고고나이트가 그것이다. 길 마즈 밑에서 일하는 것을 기회라고 생각하는 기술자 래리 밴슨은 그 장난감들에 군용 최신 기술의 마이크로 칩 X-1000을 부착한다. 아버지의 장난감 가게에서 일을 거들어주고 있는 알랜은 우연히 코만도 엘리트와 고고나이트 한 세트를 들여놓는데, 어느날 알랜이 자리를 비운 사이 이 장난감들이 싸움을 벌이는데...
